The Resilience, Community, Advocacy, Prevention (ReCAP) Lab is a multidisciplinary research and action lab dedicated to advancing health equity through community-engaged scholarship.
Grounded in principles of social justice and cultural humility, the ReCAP Lab partners with marginalized and underrepresented communities to co-develop research, interventions, and advocacy strategies that promote mental health, prevent violence, and strengthen family and community resilience. Our work centers the voices and lived experiences of those most impacted by systemic inequities.
We employ culturally responsive, community-based participatory research (CBPR) methods to examine how structural violence, racial trauma, migration, and social exclusion shape health and well-being. Through collaborative partnerships with community leaders, youth, families, and institutions, we design and evaluate interventions that are contextually grounded and sustainably driven.
At the ReCAP Lab, we believe that research must serve as a tool for liberation and collective care. Our team includes students, scholars, and practitioners who are committed to transformative change—working together to foster thriving communities where all individuals have the opportunity to heal, grow, and lead.
